STRCC

The New Mexico Statewide Traffic Records Coordinating Committee (STRCC) is comprised of multiple agencies involved in traffic records initiation, storage, transmission, and dissemination. The STRCC's mission is to establish a Statewide Traffic Records System (STRS) Model involving a multi-departmental effort, to facilitate the sharing of traffic records information, address quality issues, and jointly implement solutions.

The Statewide Traffic Records System (STRS) Model is not a re-creation of existing traffic data systems; rather, it will be designed to enhance these systems. The STRS Model will be designed to provide accurate, reliable, and timely traffic records information to STRCC stakeholder agencies through the electronic collection and transmission of traffic related data between appropriate agencies. The long term goal of the STRS Model is to track an offender from the issuance of a traffic related citation through offender sentence completion.

Since March 2002, the STRCC has met monthly to share information about each agency's role in the initiation, storage, transmission, and dissemination of traffic records and to discuss issues regarding the development of a strategic plan. The STRCC developed its Strategic Plan which was officially adopted by the STREOC and STRCC in December 2002. The TraCS Software Evaluation Pilot Project was also approved at that time. The Pilot will utilize Traffic and Criminal Software (TraCS) developed by the Iowa Department of Transportation. TraCS is a PC based electronic data collection and reporting tool that will be used by law enforcement agency Pilot participants.

The STRCC members represent state agencies involved in various aspects of traffic records systems. The STRCC agency representation includes, but is not limited to, the Taxation & Revenue Department/Motor Vehicle Division, New Mexico Department of Transportation Department, the Judiciary, state and local law enforcement agencies, Department of Health, and the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Sandra Martinez is the STRCC Chairperson.
