"My TraCS"

I became an active member in 2002. Included in my duties as the Police Records Supervisor are the RMS system administrator and liaison with City ITT for our Department. I am charged with evaluating, recommending, and implementing any new technology initiatives, systems, software, etc.

Santa Fe Police Department was selected to participate in a review of New Mexico traffic records. During this process I became aware of how vital a state traffic records system is, not only to the law enforcement community, but to all other traffic records stake holders, and ultimately to the public, and to the important roll the law enforcement community holds.

Our participation in this project has been a challenging and very rewarding experience for me and our agency. We were one of the six pilot agencies selected to test the TraCS software. The pilot agencies were at various stages of implementing an in-car computer system, but our agency had been unsuccessful in obtaining all of the funding required to do so. However, with the funding provided through this pilot project we were able to develop our wireless infrastructure, and equip six vehicles with in-car computer system.

We were able to document the process of preparing an agency for participating in a state-wide traffic records system from having no in-car computer system, to full implementation of the software.

We look forward to being one of the lead agencies in the state wide implementation of TraCS, and the State Wide Traffic Records Office.

Lydia Lioce, Police Records Supervisor, SFPD Records Division
